The January 6 Hearings are Not Convincing Regular Americans of Anything

Democrats want to make this next election about Trump, but normal people have bigger issues than the former president's actions over a year ago.

The Left’s hatred of Donald Trump is well known. During his presidency, most of the policy objectives championed by Democrats were anything that opposed his agenda. He was arguably treated more unfairly than any president in modern history by the media. But the mainstream media, after 4 years of bashing Trump with every opportunity, has struggled to adjust to the post-Trump period, losing thousands of viewers the moment Biden took office.

CNN was especially hit hard, losing about half of their primetime viewers after Trump left office.

This interesting fact explains why CNN and the rest of the mainstream media have been pushing the January 6 hearings so hard onto the American people. Having lost significant portions of their audience because Trump is sparsely in the news now, they are trying to relight the fires of hatred for the celebrity president among their base. 

Their focus on January 6 is falling on deaf ears among the American population. Inflation and rising prices across the country for basic necessities such as food and gas carry much more weight in the average person’s mind. A riot that occurred 17 months ago and lasted only a few hours has little sway over all except the most partisan Democrats. 

While what happened on January 6, 2021, was a moment that all Americans should condemn fully, there is little evidence that this was orchestrated by Donald Trump. There has been almost no new information presented during the hearings. The opening monologues from Liz Cheney and others rang hollow and represented nothing more than political grandstanding by RINOs and the Left. 

The accusations being thrown are quite shocking, as Adam Kinzinger noted that Trump was “guilty of knowing what he did.” There is absolutely zero chance that any criminal charges result from this sort of accusation. It is purely political in nature.

Of course, there is zero chance that any sort of charges are brought against anyone for any reason as a result of these hearings. The American people have known what happened that day since it occurred, and by now, most have moved on. The very real struggles people are experiencing now, brought on by the pandemic and the current administration, are much more significant motivating factors for voters in the upcoming midterms. 

This is not an attempt to justify what happened on that day, but the idea that Democrats care about riotous mobs after spending months encouraging Black Lives Matter rioters to continue their crusade is laughable. As I have discussed before, our current Vice President even promoted the bail fund for those who had burned and looted their own communities. There is no reason to believe that Democrats care about political violence since they are only ever outraged when a story affirms their narrative. 

Nearly 1000 of the Capitol rioters have already been charged for their actions. Justice has been largely served in this case. If Biden and the Democrats continue to ignore the plight of regular people in favor of partisan narratives, they will lose big later this year.
