It's Time to Pushback Against Radical Gender Theory
Ron DeSantis has given us a blueprint on how to protect parents and kids from the predations and perversions of the left.
DeSantis signed HB 1557, called the “Parental Rights in Education” bill, into law on Monday.
Everyone has seen the posts on social media. Florida, and its evil governor, Ron DeSantis, passed a law dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by the media, celebrities, and the Democratic Party. Amy Schuemer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes began the Oscars by repeatedly saying the word “gay” onstage. The absolute buffoonery that was the Oscars this year tells you everything you need to know about how serious you should take them.
“If the people who held up Harvey Weinstein up oppose us on parents’ rights, I wear that like a badge of honor. I’m not backing down.”
DeSantis’ response to Hollywood was perfect. “If the people who held up Harvey Weinstein up oppose us on parents’ rights, I wear that like a badge of honor. I’m not backing down.”
Meanwhile, the word gay does not appear once in the bill. The official title of Florida HB 1557 is “Parental Rights in Education.” However, titles these days mean less and less, so let’s examine what the content of the bill is. It requires a school to notify parents if their children have a “change in the student’s services or monitoring related to the student’s mental, emotional, or physical health” and also ensures parents are able to understand and decide what healthcare procedures schools do for students.
The most important and misrepresented part of this bill is the third provision in Section 1. It says that sexual orientation and gender ideology cannot be discussed in classrooms in “kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate.”
So this bill bans talking about sex, gay and straight, in classrooms with 5-8 year olds. The people opposing this bill want to groom children. It really is that simple. There is no reason any of this should be discussed with children if you want to preserve their innocence.
I have also seen teachers complain online about how they won’t be able to talk about their love life with their students in the classroom. To people and teachers upset about this, I want to ask why you think you have the right to talk about your love life to 6 year olds? Your job is to educate and teach kids how to think, not validate yourself by indoctrinating children to agree with all your positions.
We know they are indoctrinating kids at school. A lawsuit was filed against a middle school in Florida after a 13 year old girl was given a new name and was socially transitioned at school without her parents' knowledge. The school held a private meeting with the student asking her what bathroom she wanted to use and explicitly stated that her parents were not to be informed. “It sent a message that she needed to be protected from us, not by us,” her mother remarked.
At the same time this bill was signed, a national debate about transgender athletes in women’s sports was already in full swing after Lia Thomas set new swim records and won the NCAA women’s national championship. After the conclusion of the swim meet, DeSantis’ administration wrote a letter to Emma Weyant congratulating her as the “rightful winner.”
Florida’s governor is making all the right decisions and putting the left on the defense when it comes to gender ideology. The right must follow suit. It is time to push back against the dangerous, destructive theories put forth by Hollywood and the media. It is time to make sure that the most vulnerable among us, children, are protected from bad teachers and that parents are able to be involved in their child's education.
Florida HB 1557 opposers have revealed a lot about what they want happening in schools. There is no reason to oppose this bill unless you want to be able to discuss sexual habits with toddlers. Disney has come out against this bill, and with how their recent productions have appeared, it is not hard to see why. A Disney executive said she wanted to increase LGBT representation to 50% of characters in their movies and shows… for children.
Like DeSantis, I will die on this hill. I want our kids to have every opportunity to succeed and teachers who will help my child learn to think for themselves, not spoon feeding them opinions and ideas that are not even based in reality and can really damage their mental and physical health. With leaders like DeSantis proving his worth in government, he is quickly rising to the top of the Republican party, and should lead us into the next election.
